This much-loved art workshop is back for another splendid-n-savory summer. Oh yes, this much-loved workshop tends to sell out in a matter of minutes! Truly a tiny home on trend! This delightful + designer + DIY workshop is going to be once again artfully AMAZING! Join us for a wondrous week making everything you can imagine for your very own designer home, inside & out! Each creative camper will be given a modern + two-story + wooden house, a perfect open-canvas for imaginations to ignite and run wild! Artists will spend time planning, designing, laying out, painting, printing, constructing, exploring interiors + exteriors, sculpting, decorating, sparkling, and detailing everything from designer walls & wallpapers, rugs, furniture, works of art, functional pieces, favorite foods, and even making little forever (people + animal) friends to bring this beautiful + playful-n-personalized piece to life! We'll explore the interior and exterior using paint, glue, clay, wood, fabric, specialty materials, upcycled goods, glitter, and more! An artistic camp festive + fantastic for both girls and boys! We'll bring it all together with a mini-exhibit + recognition ceremony displaying an interactive creative + colorful + collaborative community + child-centered creation! 2. OH SO CUTE-N-CURIOUS CREATURE'S CURIO: Contemporary Contoured + Cardboard Cabinet with Compact-n-Colorfully Constructed Clay-n-Crafty Collectibles {Email hello@handmakery.com to join WAITLIST!}

Ages: 7 & up

Become a bit of a furniture designer as we creatively handcraft a mixed-media contemporary curio cabinet on contour to display delightfully darling compact-n-colorfully constructed clay-n-crafty collectibles. Children love teeny tiny collections they can dream up and personalize! This workshop will focus on hand building, creative construction, making a simple structure, delightfully designing; all to create a sweet little heart melting display that's interactive to capture childhood maker memories! Artists will work with a wide array of mixed-media materials throughout this wondrous week. Oh yes, collections bring conversation, creative thinking, and creative connection centered on childhood! We'll bring it all together with a mini-exhibit + recognition ceremony displaying an interactive creative + colorful + collaborative community + child-centered creation! 3. SHIMMERY SURF-N-SAND-ART SUNSET SHACK: Soulful Summer + Small Snacks + Shells + Seashore {Email hello@handmakery.com to join WAITLIST!}

Ages: 7 & up

Construct and create a decorative-n-designer shimmery surf-n-sand-art sunset shack {mini 3D sculpture} for a soulful summer with small handmade snacks, shells, ski/surfboards, sunnies, and more... along the summery seashore below the sizzling sunshine! Artists will design, build, and construct their very own mini surf shack with tiny & interactive delightful-n-dreamy details. This workshop has a similar flow to our Tiki Hut Travels, oh yes, a festive favorite highlighted last year! Artists will explore cardboard, papier-mâché, paint, glitter-n-glue, paper, clay, wood parts, fabric, mixed-media, tempting teeny tiny treasures, food art, sand art, sunsets, and more! We'll bring it all together with a mini-exhibit + recognition ceremony displaying an interactive creative + colorful + collaborative community + child-centered creation! Ages: 6 & up

Create and construct a sculptural & playful piece focused on beautiful basking birds and blooms, with an artfully accenting beautiful barn & buzzing bees using bold, bright, and brilliant colors! Artists will experiment with wood, cardboard, paint, glue, mixed-media, small parts, feathers, papier-mâché, clay, tempting teeny tiny treasures, and more! This piece will "grow" dimension and depth as a fun "feathery flock" of a sculpture created with imagination & illustration. We'll bring it all together with a mini-exhibit + recognition ceremony displaying an interactive creative + colorful + collaborative community + child-centered creation! 5. FOREVER FAMOUS FUTURISTIC FASHIONISTA {Email hello@handmakery.com to join WAITLIST!}

Ages: 7 & up

Dive into being a designer at heart. Explore fashion at its finest. Explore design through sketching, illustrating, playful patterns, artful accessories, complimenting color schemes, and more! Design and decorate some of your fav fashions onto miniature wooden mannequins for the radiant runway. Artists will explore color combinations, patterns on point, textures to tempt, lavish layers, 2D and 3D, and marvelous mixed-media for mini mannequins. Artists will take their visions to the next level of branding, showcase, start up sales, delightful display, and more! Please note, this is not a sewing class and we won't be making life-sized clothing. We'll bring it all together with a mini-exhibit + recognition ceremony displaying an interactive creative + colorful + collaborative community + child-centered creation! 6. GARDEN FROM THE GROUND OF GOODNESS: Gorgeous + Glorious + {Artistic + Mixed-Media} Grown {Email hello@handmakery.com to join WAITLIST!}

Ages: 6 & up

Artists will artistically create a gorgeous + glorious garden artfully inspired by mixed-media using art materials & supplies forming a 3D sweet sculpture for indoor display. Artists will look at the lavish life of a garden from the ground of goodness to create their own stylized/illustrated/painted/sculpted personalized piece. Parts and pieces may include... flowers, insects, mushrooms, butterflies, trees, leaves, and more! Artists will explore wood parts, paint, crafting-n-cardboard, papier-mâché, glitter-n-glue, paper, watercolors, clay, mixed-media, tempting teeny tiny treasures, upcycled goods, and more! This creative camp will have some WILD IN THE WOODLANDS flair from our much loved camp last summer! We'll bring it all together with a mini-exhibit + recognition ceremony displaying an interactive creative + colorful + collaborative community + child-centered creation! 7. PRETTY-n-POWERFUL PRINTMAKING WITH A POP: A Playful Process of Pop-up Print Production for the Peeps {Email hello@handmakery.com to join WAITLIST!}

Week: July 29, 30, 31 + August 1, 2024

Ages: 9 - 12

A fantastic favorite we've been instructing children for over 25 years! Learn the art of printmaking through the lovely linocut, one of our signature specialties! Create a detailed design to dazzle through sketching, drawing, shading, and imaginatively illustrating! Captivate creativity through cultivating a detailed design in pencil. Move into a magical transfer process, use tools to independently carve on contour, for a playful printmaking process with a P-O-P. We'll mix in layering, textures, patterns, colors to complement-n-contrast, and more! Artists will explore pencil, ebony, tracing paper, carving, print blocks, inks, and mixed media small parts. Designs will be transferred onto Soft Cut linoleum blocks for a playful pop of picturesque pattern through print! The final creation will work in mixed media and layers of prints, all for a "multi-dimensional mixed-media maker's masterpiece"! We've taught our linocut process to children for many summers (since 2003) at Anderson Ranch Art Center! Excited to bring it back to Carbondale! We'll bring it all together with a mini-exhibit + recognition ceremony displaying an interactive creative + colorful + collaborative community + child-centered creation! We love our mini-exhibits as they create confidence and community for artists to shine and showcase their successes in the studio!

WORKSHOPS:

• Instructed by Ami Maes, Founder + Creative Director of HANDMAKERY with 25+ years of visual arts education experience within the Roaring Fork Valley & a Bachelors of Science in Visual Arts Education K-12. HANDMAKERY: A Children's Art Studio was artfully established in 2013!

• All workshops are a creative mix of in-studio magical making & creating, filled with hands on + mixed-media + engaging art experiences.
• Workshops take a morning and afternoon outdoor snack break AND an hour-long picnic at the park with outdoor creative team building games-n-play, weather permitting!
• Stay oh so calm & cool with our studio in-house air conditioning for delightful temps on those warm summertime days. This detail is definitely a happy highlight in the hot summer!
• Workshops have limited class size. Early bird enrollment is always highly encouraged & appreciated.

MINI ART SHOW & RECOGNITION CEREMONY: Our mini art show + recognition + much-loved collector's charm ceremony is set for the end of the last day of each workshop. This mini art show/ceremony/celebration will happen either outdoors at the local park, weather permitting OR within the art studio (we'll keep you updated). Please add this important happy highlight to your summer calendar! We'll celebrate each artist and their artful accomplishments. Hoot hoot for all our amazing artists!

Cancellation policy

We can only issue STUDIO CREDIT (good for one year) within a specific timeframe (following the details noted below), once you're enrolled in a class/workshop/camp/and/or event. To be issued a STUDIO CREDIT, the studio must be provided with a written email requesting a STUDIO CREDIT for the specific class/workshop/camp/and/or event that your child is NOT able to attend. Written documentation needs to be received thirty (30) days before the start date of a school year class/workshop/and/or event AND forty-five (45) days before a camp. After (45) days in advance to a camp, we can offer credit – less a $50 processing fee – IF we are able to fill the spot, otherwise, camps are non-refundable/non credited. Requests can be sent to hello@handmakery.com. We do not issue refunds, only STUDIO CREDITS, so it’s important to plan ahead. Please know, we’ll always do our best to be fair, understanding, and to kindly work with you as ever situation is uniquely different. We are not able to refund or offer private makeup classes for missed classes. In the rare event, a class/workshop/camp/and/or event is canceled, due to lack of interest, we will either issue a refund or apply tuition to another workshop of your choice, depending on availability. Due to an unforeseen/incredibly rare circumstance, ex. illness, an instructor may need to reschedule a specific class/workshop/camp/and/or event. We greatly appreciate if you send an email ahead of time, if your child will not be attending a class. Please note, policies are subject to change without notice.
